A new data analysis done by Cheap Car Insurance shows an interesting picture about which of the state’s DMVs have the shortest—and longest—wait times.
A three-week study was performed on 134 different DMV offices in California, and the worst one for wait times was….Sacramento, with a 105-minute average wait time.
Sacramento was followed by Los Angeles, where those wishing to renew a license or take a test had to wait 93 minutes. In Hollywood, that time reduced to 87.
The most-efficient DMV in the state is the one in Red Bluff, a small town with a population of only 14,000.
The closest efficient DMV to the Bay Area is the one in Napa, that manages to keep people waiting for only 10 minutes when they pay a visit.
San Francisco ranked somewhere in the middle, with people only having to wait 21 minutes before being seen.
Mondays were deemed the worst time to go to the DMV, with the longest wait times recorded. Those visiting on Thursdays had an average of three minutes shaved off their time.
